Cochise –  Australian Cattle Dog / Blue Heeler & Hound Mix; Male; Medium-sized
DOB – November 2018

Cochise is the last of a rescued litter of 3 waiting on a forever home. They were very neglected by humans the first 4 months of their lives. They were then picked up and taken to the city pound, One of the litter was rescued by an approved adopter on a foster to adopt deal (as in rent to own). Cochise and his sister Cheyenne stayed in the pound until we could manufacture room for them in our rescue. Not a room, just room. Cheyenne was adopted by a wonderful family. Now it’s Cochise’s turn.

Cochise is a work in progress but has made tremendous strides. He is very active and loves to run but is content to sit or lie beside my chair in the cool of the evenings (Texas relative cool). He loves ear rubs, belly rubs and likes to be brushed. And did I mention treats? He thinks they are Manna from Heaven. He has learned that his current meal will not be his last for any excessive length of time. Another will be delivered on schedule. Knowing he is a working breed, I gave him a job…carrying the pooper scooper as I walk the yard, searching!!🤣

He walks well on a leash if shown patience and rides well in a vehicle.
He is not perfect. He is still a puppy. He chews some. He digs some. He gets excited and occasionally forgets his manners. All puppy level things he can outgrow with support and love. He is a beautiful dog with so much potential! He has never shown aggression toward people or dogs and seems timid around cats (no guarantee on that one).
